Straight Cut
Renato Tapajós, 90', 2013.
During the Military Dictatorship period, in Brazil, more than ten thousand people were arrested. And almost all of them were subjected to torture – then employed as State policy. On August 31, 1969, the Operação Bandeirantes (OBAN) arrested four members of the left wing guerrilla groups that fought against the Military Dictatorship. During the following days, they would get to know the nightmare of torture, living through a week of pure terror, during which soldiers, policemen and paramilitary operators let out the worst in the human capacity to inflict pain and humiliation. “Straight Cut” shows what really happened in Brazil, recovering a story that shouldn’t be distorted and revealing the true horrors of what goes on in a torture chamber.
