A DAY IN LIFE: PARATY AND ILHA GRANDE
THE SERIES
In 2019, Paraty and Ilha Grande were granted the title of World Heritage Sites by Unesco, recognized for their biodiversity and the worth of their cultures. The preserved natural environment and the ways of being and doing of traditional populations - especially indigenous, caiçaras, and quilombolas - are inseparable elements.
But despite worldwide recognition and national protection legislation, many are the economic pressures that fall upon these territories.
In this series, we follow a day in the life of eight people or family groups, each one inhabiting a different point of Paraty and Ilha Grande.
